Introduction Quality service is a must to all government agencies. Quality basic education is emphasized in the DepEd Manual 2000 which aims for an equitably accessible education to all and lays foundation for lifelong learning and service for the common good. A lot of things had been done, a lot of strategies and techniques had been tried and undertaken just to see the change that would result from all the innovations made for the sake of educating the young minds.
The person directly responsible for ensuring competent educational services in the school is the school head. The Governance for Basic Education Act of 2000 or RA 9155 is stated in Chapter I, section 7, letter E the areas of concern which the school head shall have the authority, accountability and responsibility. This document will serve as the bible of the school that will guide and be the basis of all the disciplinary sanctions of the school. Use of Elementary Classroom
The school started in 1981 with 55 students only under Mrs. Elvira Bricenio as the only teacher handling all the subjects. The succeeding years had an increase in the number of students and thereby there was also an added teacher to handle the subjects.
The classroom occupied during the early years was a classroom in the Caranday Elementary School where the very promising World Vision Project was instituted in order to help the town’s indigenous people. CHS at Present
At present Caranday High School is already at its own site, purchased by the PTA. There are 8 teachers namely: Mr. Emmanuel P. Bulalacao, Engr. Virgilio Bancaso, Mrs. Lolita Badian, Mrs.Estrella Barcenas, Nicolas Baal Jr., Mr. Raph Anthony C. Ramos, Mr. Edgar P. Magtarayo and Mrs. Jovita B. Bolalin, the newly-assigned TIC, a Master Teacher 1 from Baao High School
The number of students has increased to almost ten percent as of the past year. Caranday High School aims to attract more students to enroll regardless of race. It is a must that everyone shall be treated fairly even the indigenous people. The school being a child friendly school ensures participation in all curricular and co-curricular activities. |
History
The school is the only secondary high school in the hinterland. The entire mountainous area high school entrants would take the hilly and sloppy paths just to attend classes. There are no means of transportation yet in most areas. Students from Antipolo, Del Pilar, Sta Isabel, Viga, Iyagan, Nababarera, Pugay, Cristo Rey, Lourdes Young, and Lourdes Old would walk for hours before reaching the school.
Establishment
The school was first established on September 3, 1981 through the efforts of the late Juan B. Blanquera, the former ES-1 in English for Secondary. Mr. Blanquera did a very great job in the realization of putting up the secondary school by walking along the slopes and reaching the houses of the family who are prospective high school entrants.
The realization of the school site was a collaborative effort of the Barangay Council of Caranday headed by Ex- Barangay Captain Ernesto Velarde, PTCA President Isidro Dato Sr., PTCA Treasurer Florentina Bruca and Mr. Javier Bersabal. Early Years of CHS
Caranday High School housed at Caranday Elementary School was under the administration of the late ES-1, Juan B. Blanquera.
The teachers next to Mrs. Elvira Bricenio were the late Mrs. Crisanta B. Bomanglag, Mrs. Juliet B. Botor, Mrs. Arlene B. Mesoga and Mr. Francisco B. Bulalacao, now the ES-11 in MAPEH at DepEd, ROV. It was year 1988, when the 4 teachers were transferred to Baao High School. There was a a need to replace them with newly-hired teachers and it opened the doors for Mr. Edgar Magtarayo as the appointed TIC for about 24 years, Mrs. Nenita Baraero, Mr. Nicolas Baal, Jr. Mrs. Adoracion Dato and Mrs. Leny Salud. |
